OVERVIEW

Pinnacle State Park in Addison features stunning views of the Canisteo River Valley from its nine-hole golf course atop Orr Hill. It is one of the best-kept secrets of the New York State park system. The purpose of the feasibility study was to identify enhancements that would encourage year-round use of the state park and provide a springboard for economic development in the surrounding communities. The project featured a comprehensive site inventory and analysis, concept plan and recommendations for improvements inside and outside the park. Economic mapping identified the location of likely participants in outdoor activities within primary and secondary market areas of the park.

As a follow-up to the project, we were re-engaged to prepare a corridor management plan for a scenic byway linking Pinnacle with another state park. Also as a result of the study an annual Pinnacle Fall Festival takes place in the Village of Addison, featuring food, music, activities and hay rides to the Pinnacle. The clubhouse is now operated under a management contract which has broadened its appeal as a local dining destination and wedding and event venue.
