OVERVIEW

The Path to a Community Waterfront, A Waterfront Redevelopment Visioning and Feasibility Study, is a community effort to determine the best use for critical waterfront property in the Hamlet of Willard. Located on Seneca Lake, the Hamlet is part of the New York State Finger Lakes Region, an area known for its natural beauty and as the State’s renowned Wine Country. Recognizing the waterfront as a community asset, the Town of Romulus engaged in a planning effort to utilize this lakefront property.

peter j. smith & company facilitated a planning process to draw out public opinion and ensure direction of waterfront development meets the needs and wants of the community. By conducting public input sessions and an inventory review of the area, the waterfront concept developed for the community is a portrait of the vision for the Willard waterfront. It retains the natural beauty of the Seneca Lake waterfront environment while providing safe, usable access to this community feature. The concept has a variety of elements that have been applied to create an atmosphere for community-space along the waterfront. With this Plan, the Town of Romulus has a clear direction for appropriate waterfront development in the Hamlet.
