OVERVIEW

Niagara Falls on the Niagara River, one of the wonders of the world, draws more than 10 million tourists and visitors annually. Lesser known is the network of creeks and rivers that share the City of Niagara Falls with the mighty Niagara. These smaller waterways, and portions of the Niagara away from the Falls are navigable by small craft and provide for quiet enjoyment of the water.

peter j. smith & company was retained to design a blueway canoe trail along the four-mile LaSalle Blueway Corridor Canoe Trail on the Niagara and Little Niagara rivers and Cayuga Creek. In addition to creating opportunities for public access and enjoyment of the waterways, the Canoe Trail plan creates a context for environmental awareness and education and conservation. Construction drawings for a new canoe and kayak launch are included in the plan, as are recommendations for shoreline restoration.
